Victoria Skorikova and Kylie Tytherleigh attended the 1st Asia-Pacific Deaf Youth Camp in Malaysia. They were the only representatives from the Pacific region.Sept 2000:
Skorikova discussed with FYD (Friends for Young Deaf) Co-ordinator at Deaf Association of New Zealand (DANZ) about the possibility of hosting the 2nd camp in New Zealand.11 Oct 2000:
A Deaf Youth meeting was organised in Auckland. A team of approximately 10 youths were set up and hence, the birth of ‘DEAFinitely Youth Group’ (DYG).Nov 2000:
DYG worked together to make a report, proposal and recommendations to the Executive Council of Deaf Association of New Zealand AGM (Annual General Meeting) in Hamilton. The Executive moved the motion to bid for the 2nd Asia Pacific Deaf Youth Camp to be held in New Zealand.Dec 2000:
Tony Walton, President of Deaf Association of New Zealand, attended the 12th Asia Pacific WFD (World Federation of the Deaf) RS Representative meeting in Thailand and presented the bid on behalf of DEAFinitely Youth Group, supported by FYD and DANZ. The bid was successful, winning 14 votes to 2 (Pakistan).Jan 2001:
An organising committee was established, with Skorikova as the Chairperson. Committee members: Sara Pivac, Daniel Harborne, Karla Smith, Nirvana Graham, Daniel Greenwood and Mark Siviter.July 2001:
