About the camp

List of Countries invited to the Asia Pacific Deaf Youth Camp
The countries coming to the 2nd Asia Pacific Deaf Youth Camp are, Australia, Bangladesh, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, Sri Lanka. Also Alaska, French Polynesia (Tahiti), Fiji, Samoa and of course New Zealand.

Venue & Date
The camp will be held at Outdoor Pursuits Centre (OPC) Turangi, New Zealand on 12th - 19th January 2002.

Participants
54 participants from the Asia-Pacific region.

Age
This camp is open to 18 - 30 years old.

Passport and Visa
Every overseas participant and its accompanying person/s are responsible for having their own valid passport and visa.

Insurance
All participants are responsible for their own medical and travel insurance, and safety issues while participating at the camp in New Zealand. *Please Note: Deaf Association of New Zealand is not liable for anything that happens to participants during the camp.

Objectives

• To gain leadership skills, confidence and self-esteem so that Deaf youths can become better leaders in their own countries.
• To Exchange and educate ideas, issues and experience facing Deaf youths.
• To create contacts and develop better network in the Asia-Pacific region.
• To enchance Deaf youth pride in Deaf Culture, identity and history.
• To promote New Zealand and other cultures in the Asia-Pacific region.
